Letters to the Editor!

Dear Citizens of Dumfries,

It has been 8 months since I left, but I continue to keep you in my thoughts, especially now. You have a very important election coming up on May 1st, where you will select your Mayor for the next 2 years. I am writing this letter because I have extremely strong feelings about this election, and I hope that you will consider your decision carefully. Nancy West is one of the kindest, most ethical women I have ever had the pleasure of knowing, and she has served Dumfries tirelessly first as Councilwoman, then as Mayor after Fred Yohey’s passing.

Nancy West has made Dumfries her home for decades. She raised her children here, she helped others raise their children here, and she absolutely, without question, has the best interests of the Town at heart. She knows this Town inside and out, and she always puts the Town and its citizens first when making decisions. Unfortunately, this is not always the case in politics. Too many politicians consider things from a perspective of personal gain or self-interest. But not Nancy.

It was my sincerest pleasure to serve as Town Manager under her. And to be very frank, her opponent, Mr. Foreman, is one of the biggest reasons that I decided to look for other employment. If you truly want a Mayor that cares about you, that cares about Dumfries, that has demonstrated a long commitment to public service and to the Town, PLEASE vote for Nancy West on May 1st. She is the Mayor that will move Dumfries forward.

Thanks for listening to my thoughts:) Miss you guys!

Kimberly Alexander, Former Dumfries Town Manager
